Biggest Orange Pip Yet for Market’s Summer Special

By Published June 20, 2017

MORE than 40 foodie delights from across the globe will be on offer at this Saturday’s Orange Pip Market Summer Special on Centre Square.

As well as a record breaking number of food stalls there will also be an increased number of top notch musical entertainment and craft sessions for all the family.

Parts of the world whose culinary delights will be on offer include Armenia, Korea, Nepal, Middle East, Mexico, France, Goa and much, much more.

Centre Square will be awash with activity and colour with all the usual Orange Pip goodness and a little more added in for good measure.

A full list of stalls and entertainment will be released in the coming days.

Orange Pip will return home to Baker and Bedford Street after the one-off Summer Special and will likely extend onto Albert Road.

Sharon Thomas, Middlesbrough Council’s Director of Economic Development and Infrastructure, said: “We know how well loved Orange Pip Market is and it stands out as one of Middlesbrough Council’s big success stories of recent times. We had no idea how big it was going to be but it has been absolutely brilliant and already grown beyond our initial hopes.”

A council report released earlier this year revealed that Orange Pip Market has led to a town centre “business boom” worth an estimated £1m to the local economy.

Local business owners have also told how Orange Pip has led to a 120% increase in sales when compared like for like against non-market Saturdays.
