Crackdown On Dealers and Yobs Hits North Ormesby

By Published January 21, 2020

DRUG dealing and yobbery have been targeted in the latest phase of a major Middlesbrough-wide crackdown.

Mayor Andy Preston's pledge to take back Boro's streets saw Street Wardens and Neighbourhood Safety Officers mount high-profile patrols in North Ormesby and Park End.

Hand-delivered letters from the Mayor promise to tackle the issue, while urging local residents to provide information on the problems they're experiencing.

The teams - backed by surveillance and enforcement vehicles - are focusing on streets blighted by drug dealing, with daily operations planned across the town over the coming weeks.

The crackdown follows calls for action from residents, and has already seen the seizure of drugs.

Mayor Preston said: "I want decent, law-abiding people to know we're on their side - there's no place in Middlesbrough for criminals.

"With people's help - and the backing of the police - we will stamp it out.

"Our wardens and camera vehicles will be highly visible, and the message to the thugs and drug dealers is loud and clear - we want you out of Middlesbrough and in prison."

To report nuisance and anti-social behaviour, contact the Neighbourhood Safety Officer on 01642 728327/728775 or Wardens on 01642 228500.

To report a crime or criminal activity, call Cleveland Police on 101 or in an emergency 999.
