The Butterfly Awards 2018 - nominations are open!

By Published February 08, 2018

The Butterfly Awards is an annual ceremony that celebrates bereaved parents, their caregivers, charities and individuals who help them.

Established in 2013 by Mel Scott in memory of Finley, who was stillborn at 41 weeks and 5 days of pregnancy, the red carpet, black tie event was created to honour parents who have experienced the loss of a baby as well as celebrate some of the work done by the people and organisations that provide often unrecognised, invaluable support.

The awards evening has grown massively since it was founded and now caters for upwards of 300 attendees on the night - this year taking place on the 27th of October at Chesford Grange Hotel, Warwick. The inclusion of nominees is nationwide - anyone residing in the UK is eligible for nomination providing they meet award category criteria (listed below).

Notable nominees include Antoinette Sandbach MP and Will Quince MP (above) - bereaved parents and members of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Babyloss. Kym Marsh was nominated in 2017 for her efforts in raising awareness and her bravery in agreeing to do a babyloss storyline in Coronation Street that heavily mirrored her own experience with her little boy.

Nomination categories are: Inspirational Father, Inspirational Mother, Healthcare Professional, Midwife of the Year, Awareness Advocate, Bereavement Worker, Most Valuable Contribution, Cherished Keepsake, Author/Blogger, UK Support Organisation, Best Hospital Bereavement Care and the Thank You Award.

More information about the award categories can be found on the Butterfly Awards Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TheButterflyAwards/ and nominations can be made at https://babylossstar.co.uk/2017-nominations/
