Classic Clapton Return to Middlesbrough Theatre this May

By Published May 15, 2018

CLASSIC Clapton - the World's No1 Eric Clapton tribute band featuring front-man Mike Hall - will be will be making a welcome return to Middlesbrough Theatre on Friday, May 25.

Performing Eric Clapton’s classic songs including Wonderful TonightTears in HeavenCrossroadsI Shot The SheriffCocaineLay Down Sally and of course Layla.

There will even be an ‘unplugged’ segment…so surely a concert not to be missed by any Clapton fan.

The band was formed in 1985 in Newcastle upon Tyne long before the term ‘tribute band’ was invented, and named themselves After Midnight after Eric Clapton’s first solo hit.

In guitar/vocalist Mike Hall, they have a frontman who not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too. In the past 33 years Classic Clapton has become something of a rock institution.

Classic Clapton comprises four excellent musicians: Mike Hall (lead vocals/guitar), Paul Warren (keyboards/backing vocals), Danny Davison (drums) and Dave Robson (bass guitar/backing vocals).

Dave is a former member of chart band Geordie, and was with them at the time Brian Johnson left to join AC/DC.

Frontman Mike was born in Durham and keyboards player Paul was born in Middlesbrough.

  • If you are interested in ideas, radio is way more pure than television. You’re not distracted by somebody’s nose or hair or posture. You can really see how someone thinks and penetrate to the essence of who that person is. – Terry Gross
