A firm family favourite and one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the North East, the 2018 Cleveland Show will draw the crowds to Middlesbrough’s Stewart Park on Saturday, July 28.
The show, held annually on the fourth Saturday of July, has been entertaining young and old alike since 1944 as it brings the countryside to the town.
Highlights in the main ring this year include the return of The Devil’s Horsemen, the 3SIXTY Bicycle stunt team, Ben Potter Birds of Prey and a vintage tractor parade.
Attendees can expect all the usual classes for the farmyard and domestic animals, as well as a brand new section for home baking.
Other attractions include live music from Acoustic Brew, vintage singer Claire Louise and a wonderful musical showpiece from the Scarborough Fair Collection – the DeCap Accordian Castle. Visitors can also enjoy an army assault course, fun fair, show jumping and craft and trade stands.
Brand new for 2018 is the Country Crafts area showcasing agricultural crafts and heritage, while Ian’s Mobile Petting Farm offers fun and educational introductions to a vast range of animals including pygmy goats, tortoises, ducklings, guinea pigs, lambs and chickens.
Families can enjoy the free children’s fun zone, courtesy of Parkway Day Nursery, as well as a treasure hunt, and an inflatable farm course where you can take tractors and carts for a spin.
Cleveland Show secretary Val Thomson said: “Don’t miss The Cleveland Show!
“Celebrating 75 years of the country coming to the town is a huge milestone.
“Families across the region are in for a real treat as they get to see the marriage of agriculture and spectacle in the beautiful surroundings of Stewart Park.”
Councillor Mick Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Communities, said: “The Cleveland Show is one of the fixtures of the regional calendar, and really does offer something for everyone.
“The fact that it is still going strong after 75 years is testament to a winning formula that has more than stood the test of time.
“This year’s anniversary event will build on the successes of the past, and I look forward to the Cleveland Show’s return for many years to come.”
