More than 30 years ago, Ben Elton exploded into the national consciousness hosting Channel 4’s ground breaking Saturday Live.
He went on to co-write The Young Ones and Blackadder, a string of bestselling novels, collaborated with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Queen on West End musicals, and has penned further sitcoms including The Thin Blue Line and Upstart Crow starring David Mitchell.
Now, after a 15 year absence, the Godfather of modern stand-up returns to the medium he did so much to define and plays Middlesbrough Town Hall on Monday 7th October.
Back on the road with an all new stand-up show, Ben promises to try and make sense of a world which appears to have gone stark raving mad. As Ben says: “The last time I toured I was still smarter than my phone. Things have definitely taken a funny turn”
Graham Ramsay of promoters Ten Feet Tall, who works alongside the Town Hall to deliver the venue’s comedy programme, said: “This is another incredible show for Teesside’s comedy fans to get excited about.
"Ben is an absolute legend of stand-up and it’s great that we’ve got this rare opportunity to see him in Middlesbrough on his first tour for 15 years”.
Ben Elton is just one of the comedy coups lined up for Middlesbrough Town Hall with Frank Skinner, Stewart Francis, Ben Elton, Jonathan Pie, James Acaster, Dave Gorman, John Bishop, Chris Ramsey, Jimmy Carr and Ross Noble all heading this way in the coming months.
