A TASKFORCE has been drawn up to secure the future of one of the icons of the north east skyline.

A NEW chapter in the history of the Transporter Bridge would be decided following a public consultation, under plans to be put to Middlesbrough Council's Executive.

The River Tees Rediscovered Landscape Partnership, is supported by the National Lottery through The National Lottery Heritage Fund and aims to develop the river and its surrounding area through conservation and community activities, reconnecting the people of the Tees with their river - a natural feature that has moulded the physical and cultural development of the landscape and communities through which it runs.

NEW charges come into effect at the Tees Transporter Bridge from next month.
