A SUCCESSFUL scheme has been applauded for assisting individuals like Tony to keep their houses warm during winter whilst helping to manage their COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) condition. 

A Middlesbrough Council employee who narrowly escaped death due to his smoking habit has been chosen as the face of a regional campaign to help others quit. 

People across Middlesbrough are being urged to "make a fresh quit" with the launch of a major quit smoking campaign. 

STOPTOBER is approaching and Middlesbrough Council and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council are reminding the public about the benefits of quitting the habit for good.
