The industrious insects have been hard at work in the Farm's historic observation hive which gives visitors a fascinating up-close insight into the lives of these fascinating creatures.
When out and about the bees are busy collecting nectar and spreading pollen throughout the wild flower meadows on the farm.
To celebrate their work Newham Grange is holding two Marvellous Meadows Workshops on Tuesday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 31 from 10am to 4.30pm.
This is a printmaking and collage activity that links directly to the Pollinators Trail.
Using templates children and families cut out plants and flowers from colourful card.
These are glued in position on a large scale paper strip. As the day progresses the plants and flowers will overlap, creating an illusion of depth to the meadow.
Children then select an insect printing block and make a small print on card. Adding colour with pens they finish by cutting this out and placing it where they want it to be in position on the large scale work.
This is a free drop-in activity resulting in a large scale artwork that will be displayed after the event.
