Drivers warned over traffic light works on key route

Published February 26, 2025 By

Motorists are being warned of traffic light upgrades taking place on a key route through Middlesbrough over the next two weeks.

The works will require temporary traffic lights at the entrance to the James Cook University Hospital site on Marton Road.

Delays will be possible at peak times, with the work expected to be completed by Monday, March 10.

The works may also necessitate the temporary closure of the pedestrian crossing point at the junction, with alternative crossing points available at Marton Way and Broadwell Road.

A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: “We will always endeavour to keep any disruption to a minimum during essential upgrade and improvement works, and pedestrian crossings will only be closed when absolutely necessary.

“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience, and thank the public for their patience and understanding.”
