Motorists warned over tree work closures on key route

Published January 22, 2026 By

Motorists are being warned of closures on a key Middlesbrough route to allow for tree removal work.

The urgent felling will take place over three nights on the Ormesby Hall side of Ladgate Lane from Tuesday, January 27.

Temporary evening road closures will be in place from 7pm to 5am between Cargo Fleet Lane and Marton Avenue.

During the first phase of the works (Tuesday, January 27), access will be maintained for shops, businesses and residents along Ormesby High Street up to the junction with Pritchett Road.

Diversion routes will be signposted throughout the works, with buses escorted through the closure during the third phase due to the lengthy nature of the diversion.

A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: “Tree removal works of this nature are essential from time to time to ensure public safety, and closures are unavoidable while they are carried out.

“This will be done overnight to keep any disruption to a minimum, and we’re grateful to the public for their patience and understanding.”
