Town hall event for adults with learning disabilities or autism

Published November 10, 2025 By

Adults with learning disabilities or autism can find out more about the help available to them in Middlesbrough at a free event next week.

Tuesday’s Our Place, Our Say showcase will bring together a wide range of services that support people in the town.

It’s also an opportunity for people and their families to give feedback on their experiences.

Local health, care and community groups will have stalls at the event and there will be live music from local theatre and choir groups.

There will also be crafts and other fun activities to take part in at the event organised by Skills for People with support from Middlesbrough Council.

Skills for People works to make sure people with disabilities and their families are properly included in the communities where they live.

Cllr Julia Rostron, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive member for Adult Social Care, believes the event will be very useful for individuals and families.

She said: “The programme is a mix of information, advice, fun and entertainment – it’s proved very popular elsewhere in the region.

“I hope that everyone who attends will be able to find out something new or perhaps have a conversation that helps them in their everyday life.”

The event runs from 10am until 4pm on November 18 at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Free refreshments will be on offer and lunch is available between 12pm and 2pm.
