The countdown is on for this weekend’s spectacular 2025 Diwali festival in Middlesbrough’s Centre Square.

Tees Valley EDI Awards celebrate people and projects championing unity.

The much‑anticipated Middlesbrough Mela 2025, marking the festival’s 35th anniversary, returned in style to Albert Park on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August, as one of the UK’s longest-running multicultural festivals, it drew over 50,000 visitors across the weekend Middlesbrough Council.

Applications are open now for new grant funding designed to support and showcase Middlesbrough’s diverse communities.
