Council Supports Schools With £50k of Sanitiser and Soap

Published January 14, 2021 By

Schools can now access hand sanitiser and soap via Middlesbrough Council.

The Council has allocated £50,000 of its Covid funding to provide the products for schools around the town.

The cash was committed following conversations with headteachers over issues arising during the pandemic.

Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston said: "Schools are on the frontline of this crisis and it's only right we support them.

"This is a sensible use of our Covid funding and the Council will continue to stand by school staff and kids around Middlesbrough."

Executive Member for Communities and Education, Cllr Mieka Smiles, said: "We're talking to schools continuously and we know the cost of soap and sanitiser was becoming an issue for them.

"This funding hopefully makes things that little bit easier for staff as they continue to do all they can for the good of Middlesbrough children."

Details on how to order supplies have been sent directly to schools.
