Orange Pip returns for late summer extravaganza

Published August 29, 2024 By

Middlesbrough’s renowned Orange Pip Market is back this Saturday (August 31) for a feast of great food, drink and entertainment.

Fans of the finest artisan produce and great local live music are guaranteed a day to remember as the popular event returns to Baker/Bedford Street at the weekend.

The best local makers, bakers and cocktail shakers will be on hand as the crowds enjoy an amazing array of stalls and sup a pint or two in the streets’ legendary micropubs.

Live music from the region’s up and coming acts and family-friendly activities will ensure it’s a memorable day out for the whole family.

Alongside returning firm favourites, visitors to Saturday’s Pip can look forward to trying tasty morsels from a clutch of newcomers:

  • Deja Street Food      - out of this world street food and sushi
  • Whao Bao                 - brilliant bao buns
  • Divine Bakery           - homemade cheesecakes
  • Crepe Expectations - sweet and savoury crepes
  • Sparkle & Magic       - seriously good street food and ice-creams
  • The Little Indian       - sensational Indian street food
  • Chez Dip                   - delicious French dip sandwiches

And there’s no shortage of musical entertainment from 1pm:

  • 1pm                Singer-songwriter Eve Conway
  • 2pm                Jazzy and soulful vocalist Marina Josephina
  • 3pm                Indie-pop artist Sarah Johnsone
  • 4pm                All-girl grunge/indie rock band The Wednesday Flowers

Orange Pip Markets have welcomed Perco Foods - one of the UK’s leading food importers and distributors – as headline sponsor for the 2024 season.

Cllr Philippa Storey, Middlesbrough’s Deputy Mayor and Executive member for Culture, said: “Orange Pip Market is rightly established as one of the highlights of Middlesbrough’s social calendar and one of the best events of its kind in the region.

“It’s a true showcase of the fantastic food, drink and entertainment we have right on our doorstep, and it gives a real boost to the town centre.

“This month you can also visit Middlesbrough’s Pride Event and Middlesbrough Arts Week.

“As an added bonus the weather forecast is looking great for Saturday – see you there!”

An end of season Orange Pip party, to coincide with Teesside’s Pride event and Middlesbrough Art Week, will take place on Centre Square on Saturday, September 28.
