There was no play possible in the second tier of the North Riding Football League or the North Riding FA Challenge Cup ties affecting NRFL sides, but the Premier Division results were enough to warm up a freezing Saturday.
Match of the day saw the top two meet at leaders Boro Rangers, who extend their advantage at the top to eight points. The Middlesbrough side took the lead, early on, through Paul Blake, before two superb Mark Waterfield free-kicks in as many minutes turned the match in Fishburn's favour. However, Blake's second brought Boro level and Stu Rose fired them ahead for a second time, at 3-2, just before half-time. The second half was a hard-fought affair but Rose's second settled matters to end a great week for Rangers, who knocked Northern League Guisborough Town out of the North Riding Senior Cup, on Wednesday night.
BEADS kept up their great recent form with a 3-2 victory at St Marys 1947. Harry Spence and Chris Peacock notched for the Yarm side but Ashley McCarthy and Matty Wyke's brace saw their Middlesbrough visitors home.
Redcar Town returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over second-bottom Grangetown Boys Club. Lee Dooley had put the Boys Club ahead, just after the half hour, but second half strikes from Chris Jackson and a Nico Weatherald brace turned things in Town's favour.
Across town, Redcar Newmarket were held 3-3 by Guisborough United. Lewis Reeve's brace and Dean Wilson's strike earned a point on their travels for United, with Michael Dowse, Gavin Jackson and Simon Kasonali on target for Newmarket.
Elsewhere, Stockton West End made the semi-finals of the Durham County Cup with a 5-3 victory at Coundon and Leeholme. Despite going 2-1 down, goals from Michael McLaughlin and twin strikes each from Jake Large and Ben Turner saw Stockton into the last four.
All NRFL Under 19 matches were postponed on Sunday.
