Ageing Better Middlesbrough's Winter Loneliness Campaign

By Published December 19, 2019

Ageing Better Middlesbrough is launching its winter loneliness campaign to support people aged 50 and over who live in Middlesbrough and feel lonely and isolated during the winter months.

Research carried out by Teesside University about evening and weekend loneliness found that people are affected by loneliness during the winter, as the dark nights make evenings feel longer and people struggled to find something to occupy their time.

Ageing Better Middlesbrough's Bridget Bowker said: "We know winter can be a difficult time - with the dark nights, icy pavements and cold weather preventing people from leaving their homes. Health issues can also make it all feel harder.

"We're here to help.

"We can work with you to find positive ways round some of the barriers that come about in the cold weather.

"And we can support you to feel more confident in yourself.

"Give us a ring to have a chat and find out more about what we do."
