Prepare to be spellbound at new Dorman Museum exhibition

Published January 26, 2025 By

Visitors can delve into the wonderful world of magic at a new Dorman Museum exhibition.

Spellbound Magic Exhibition is supported by the Middlesbrough Circle of Magicians and charts the enchanting history of magic in the Teesside and wider region.

From its emergence and early day roots to modern-day marvels and the mystery of codes, you can immerse yourself in stories from the stage and legendary magicians.

Children can explore an interactive magic space, learn tricks of their own and unleash their own magical craft. Standout pieces from magic history include a Sooty puppet from the television classic and props from other famous shows.

Cllr Philippa Storey, Deputy Mayor and Executive member for Culture, said: “The Dorman Museum highlights once again its ability to put on exhibitions that are a thrill for the whole family.

“Spellbound is both educational and exciting in equal measure, showing the history and magic of Teesside – I really enjoyed my visit and so will you!”

The exhibition is a ticketed event and runs until Spring 2025.

The Dorman Museum is open 10-4pm Tuesday to Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online.
