Sonny Finch and Terrell Agyemang were the first pair to return to home soil after their loan spells ended.
Striker Sonny spent time over at MK Dons of League Two however had limited game-time. Agyemang spent his time over at Airdie making 19 appearances, netting twice for the Scottish Championship side.
Goalkeeper Zach Hemming was the first to step out the Riverside doors as he re-enters the doors of Love Street linking up with former Boro players Caolán Boyd-Munce and Toyosi Olusanya. Hemming will spend the rest of the season on loan at St Mirren.
Matthew Hoppe has also left the club after making six first-team appearances since joining in the summer of 2022. Hoppe’s contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
Boro fans, it’s time to grab your tissues. Isaiah Jones departs to join fellow Championship side Luton Town on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee. Jones joined the Boro in 2019 from Tooting and Mitcham and in that time racked up 149 appearances, scoring 13.
Izzy was named Player’s Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year at the end of the 2021/22 season.
It’s the Aussie’s turn next. Samuel Silvera was recalled from his loan at Portsmouth and has moved to the North-West coast. Sammy joined the Boro in the summer of 2023 from Australian side Central Coast Mariners. He will make Bloomfield Road of Blackpool his home for the remainder of the season.
Youngster Pharrell Willis has returned from his loan at Queen of the South in which he made six appearances before being forced to be sidelined since November with an injury.
Just before the West Bromwich Albion game at the Riverside, Ipswich recalled George Edmundson who is out of contract with the Premier League club at the end of the season. Edmundson joined Boro in August last year and made 21 appearances- keeping the backline strong.
Mark Tinkler has got rising star Brayden Johnson join his U21 side from Eastbourne Borough- who are currently in National League South.
Johnson has never played for a professional academy and only joined Eastbourne Borough six months ago but has shown amazing talent as sides like West Ham, Ipswich and more all chasing him.
Boro fans grab your tissues again as Ryan Giles is one of our own, again. He joins on loan for the rest of the season from Hull City in which he made 16 appearances at the MKM Stadium.
Ryan quickly became a fan favourite and was welcomed into the Boro family with open arms from all supporters when he first arrived in the 22/23 season.
After making 17 appearances for the Boro, Micah Hamilton has joined Stockport County on loan until the end of the season. Stockport are in the League One Play-off places with the potential of getting promoted this season.
George Gitau is next to depart from the club – being a regular for the Under 21’s. Gitau has headed to Scotland to join Raith Rovers.
After a lot of interest from various different clubs, Morgan Whittaker is a red. Signing a four-and-a-half year contract, Whittaker has joined from struggling Plymouth Argyle.
This is an exciting signing for the Boro and Boss Michael Carrick said: “There was a lot of interest in him, but it says a lot that he wanted to come here and be a part of things”.
George Edmundson is back after being recalled by Ipswich earlier in the Transfer window – making 21 appearances for the boys in red and white. Edmundson has singed a two-and-a-half year contract.
28-year-old Matthew Clarke, who has been an avid figure in Boro’s defence this season, has made a permanent move to Derby County.
He has spent the last two years on Teesside making 51 appearances however he is making the trip back down to Pride Park after already spending two loan spells with the Rams.
Closest to the backline, Mark Travers is looking to make his mark between the sticks with his Premier League and International experience with hopes of becoming Boro’s number one until his contract ends.
Travers has signed a deal which will keep the Goalkeeper on Teesside until the end of the season.
Youngster Ajay Matthews, was the next to depart the Riverside to join London club Millwall on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.
Josh Dede made the move from title chasers Celtic, in the Scottish Premiership, to link-up with the Under 21’s.
This is a good signing for the U21’s as Dede has an impressive record with the Scotland international team making call-ups with the U16’s, U17’s and U19’s at only 19 years old. He made his debut at just 16 years old for Celtic’s B team.
News from the other side of the UK as Alex Gilbert has made his way to Charlton Athletic for the remainder of the season.
Pitchside, Kelechi Iheanacho was announced as a Boro player before kick-off in the “Tees-Wear Derby” (if you call it that, apparently Sunderland fans do not!) He joins from Sevilla who are currently sat in 12th place in La Liga.
Boro fans, don’t fret! He brings a lot of experience playing at the highest level with teams like Manchester City and was apart of Leicester City’s promotion side last season.
It is definitely safe to say Boro have had a fantastic Transfer Window this year… Let’s hope it brings us some luck!
